Frequently asked questions

What kind of film do you use to make mounted slides ?
We use Kodak Elite Chrome 35mm film.

What resolution will be the best for slide ?
At least 600x900 pixels image is recommended
About 768x1024 pixels to 1200x1600 pixels are recommended.

What kind of format you can use for making slides ?
We can print all kinds of format such as PPT(Power Point file), JPEG, BMP, TIFF, PSD etc.

What are pixel and dpi ?
Both are used to describe digital file resolution and file size
Pixel is color element. 1200x1800 pixels means 1200 color elements(vertical) x 1800 colr elements(horizontal)
dpi is dots(or pixels) per inch. 4 inch x 300 dpi=1200 pixels
1200x1800 pixels is 4"x6" 300 dpi or 8"x12" 150 dpi

Can I send other than JPEG file via internet ?
Yes or No.
You can send PPT(Power Point file) via internet.
TIFF, BMP, PSD are same size as raw data and becoming very large file, therefor it takes several minutes to send one image via modem line. We will recommmend to send JPEG or PPT file for quick internet transfer.

What resolutuion and format do you use to scan slides or film and store on CD ?
Our default resolution is 1200x1800 pixels, equal 4"x6" 300 dpi, and format is JPEG which are good both for high quality printing 4x6 size to 8x10 size prints.

Can you scan high resolution ?
Yes, we can scan high resolution as you want. However we will ask you why you need high resolution. Because, if you are going to use on screen, 72dpi(dotts per inch) is enough. More than 72 dpi will not help on screen at all.
If you are printing on inkjet or laser printer with resolution 1200 dpi, digital file with 300 dpi resolution is enough.
Normally, printer need 4 times better resolution than the resolution of the file.

What is the difference between JPEG and TIFF format ?
TIFF is format without condensing the data size. JPEG is the most popular international standard format condensed with special mathematic formula to keep high photo quality. The data size of JPEG is about 5% to 10% of original file size. For example, the data size of 4"x6" 150 dpi digital photo is 2,160K Bytes by TIFF format and 100k to 200K Bytes by JPEG format. You can not identify the quality difference between JPEG and TIFF on the screen or printed picture of the size up to 8"x10". Unless you are looking for photo size 20"x30" or bigger, we recommend to use JPEG format.

Do I need to have any margine for you to make slide ?
No, you do not need put any additional margine to your image. We make slide as it is (same as you can see on the screen). We never clop your image.
